    Responsibilities

    As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for applying cash receipts, tracking and organizing insurance billing documentation, and assisting with collections.  Other duties and responsibilities include:

    • Complete billing of a high volume of medical claims through Electronic Medical Records while adhering to Timely Filing Requirements
    • Billing of secondary insurance through paper claims
    • Working knowledge of Medicaid and Commercial insurance carriers billing requirements
    • Partnering with third party vendor for collections
    • Ability to read and understand Explanation of Benefits “EOB”
    • Perform EOB reconciliation
    • Application of payments
    • Work all denied claims in a timely manner
    • Audit detailed timesheets to ensure the accuracy of billing codes
    • Understanding of Commercial Insurance contract language/rates per fee schedules and application
    • Assist clients with insurance claim resolution
    • Process payments over phone
    • Ensure billing systems are updated with current contracted fee schedules
    • Provide research and analysis of billing discrepancies and short payments.
    • Ensure compliance with audit recommendations, and departmental accounting policies and procedures

    Qualifications

    • 2-3+ years of medical billing experience, ABA industry experience desireable
    • AA degree or higher in accounting/finance or related field
    • Active, working knowledge of CPT codes is preferred
    • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines required
    • Good analytical skills and reasoning ability
    • Solid verbal and written communications skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management and field operators
    • Individuals must possess a high degree of customer service
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and ability to utilize web-based platforms
